Value of Training

Value of Training

Client services are our business in Product Education. The value we deliver to clients must exceed their expectations and the learning results they could realistically achieve without our assistance.  We accomplish this primarily by:

  • Making significant investments in the attraction, retention, and development of superior instructors with subject matter expertise, and
  • Developing high quality educational materials, including course manuals, exercises, roadmaps, presentations, and product training demonstrations.

Our course materials meet strict curriculum standards and are specifically designed to incorporate adult learning strategies. Our instructors bring real world product knowledge and experience into the classroom, as well as superlative teaching skills. Interaction and hands-on work is a key part of the learning process. The result is high value education.

Value of Training

Why is formal education so important? Why do we recommend that every client attend our courses before, during, and after their product implementation projects?

  • Our collective experience at FICO is that formal product education is critical to your success with FICO products.
    • We feel strongly about this. Formal training by FICO will reduce your implementation project risks. In addition, our products typically are part of complex Decision Management solutions and clients need training and experience in order to derive the full benefits.
  • We make significant investments in expert instructors and the development of comprehensive courses in order to capture a wealth of knowledge and know-how that is unique to FICO.
    • Our product education transfers our knowledge and best practices to you.
  • Product Education maximizes your learning potential by capitalizing on the opportunity for you to apply this learning immediately in your business.
    • The delivery of our courses is carefully timed with respect to your implementation and go-live schedule so that training has the most positive impact on the participants’ learning curve and the implementation effort.
  • Formal training represents a relatively small portion of your FICO product implementation costs, and yields a considerable return on investment through the acceleration of your progress and productivity with FICO products.
    • Typically, clients’ training fees will be less than 5% of the total cost for the product and services, whereas the ultimate costs of not receiving proper training will be considerably higher. These hidden costs might include schedule slips, insufficient productivity, lackluster results, increased calls to clients’ and FICO’s support desks, and increased turn-over.
  • You will get more than a course with Product Education’s offerings.
    • We take a consultative approach to client on-site training. For example, we will work with you to acquire an understanding of your environment, areas for emphasis and de-emphasis in your training, and to define course ‘roadmaps’ for personnel in various roles. These activities are included in the cost of our on-site training offerings. In addition, as the software vendor’s education arm, we are most committed to your overall satisfaction with FICO products.

In general, knowledge is a company asset, and formal education is perceived as a career enhancer by employees. You might wish to consider these last two items:

  • Intellectual property is the single most valuable asset of any company and education is a key component of growing and maintaining this asset.
    • Training is sometimes overlooked or minimized when planning the many activities that must be undertaken for any product implementation. It is nonetheless an important contributor to the corporate knowledge base.
  • Providing educational opportunities for employees was deemed one of the top mechanisms for keeping people on board with a company.
    • It will cost a company 75% of a professional’s salary and 150% of a manager’s salary to replace them. (Quoted by Families and Work Institute)

We advise that you consider the critical contribution of formal education when planning the implementation of FICO products, and encourage your employees to climb aboard for training!
