With the 2012 holiday shopping season off to a strong start, will US consumers be nursing a debt hangover in 2013? A new myFICO® consumer survey provides some insight. Results of the survey, which asked about holiday spending plans and concerns, are shown in the graphic below.
Notably, credit card debt was the #1 financial worry, and 62% expressed concern about fraud or identity theft. These concerns reinforce why lenders should invest in communications and education that help consumers play an active role in fighting fraud and controlling their credit—during the holiday season and year round.
