7. September 2005
(Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA) - Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE:FIC), the leading provider of analytics and decision technology, today announced that Rogers Wireless, Canada's largest wireless voice and data communications service provider, has agreed to continue its successful utilization of Fair Isaac's leading international roamer record exchange system, RoamEx® roamer data exchanger, with the new Enhanced Roamer Visibility (ERV) feature. ERV will help Rogers Wireless more easily and effectively detect and prevent roaming fraud globally.
Rogers Wireless has been a long-time user of Fair Isaac's RoamEx solution. The new RoamEx ERV feature will help Rogers Wireless monitor the activity of its roaming subscribers outside the RoamEx network in near real time, even when the serving operator network does not participate in the RoamEx exchange network. Rogers Wireless can deploy the system in its home network and detect roaming fraud globally for its more than 5,9 million wireless subscribers, regardless of their roaming destination.
Wireless roaming fraud remains a serious global issue for mobile network service providers. It occurs when a subscriber who does not intend to pay moves from the home operator network to another operator network and takes advantage of the home operator's lack of visibility of subscriber activity. An individual roaming fraud incident can result in a loss of more than US $200.000 within a few days.
"RoamEx offers the only proven method that successfully detects and prevents roaming fraud of all types, regardless of provider network technology, generation or region," said Mike Gandolfo, vice president of Fair Isaac's Global Telecom solutions. "By combining RoamEx with the new ERV feature, operators have a complete roaming fraud prevention solution that is quick and cost-efficient to deploy, effectively addresses the remaining fraud exposure from High Usage Reports and provides global coverage of their roamers." RoamEx ERV provides the home operator with visibility and fraud analysis of roamer activity in all serving operator networks while minimizing impact on the home network and roaming partners. ERV collects, filters and analyzes SS7 messages, the global standard for telecommunications, for near real-time alarms of roaming fraud.
Fair Isaac RoamEx Roamer Data Exchanger currently handles approximately 95 percent of all roaming call records for the North American wireless industry and helps more than 70 wireless carriers detect and prevent fraud. It processes over 2 billion call detail records every month and supports all common mobile technologies. Fair Isaac provides day-to-day management, monitoring, maintenance and technical support for the RoamEx network, minimizing wireless carriers' resource commitment.
