Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) is a programming language that is found at the heart of many of today's leading financial organizations' mainframe applications. Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor 6 for COBOL allows organizations to incorporate an enterprise rules management system that co-exists with or easily upgrades existing mainframe applications. Businesses can improve time-to-market and agility by using Blaze Advisor as the rules engine across applications while transitioning existing COBOL applications into newer Java/.NET applications.
"Blaze Advisor 6 for COBOL is designed for organizations that have mainframe applications and want to significantly reduce the time and costs required to introduce important changes in business priorities into their decision systems," said James Taylor, vice president of product marketing for Enterprise Decision Management at Fair Isaac. "The solution delivers more flexibility for allocating strategy ownership across the enterprise, and encourages the reuse of decision strategies across business applications."
Typically, when utilizing rules management techniques and business rules on a mainframe, companies must add Java-based services that require complex interfaces across mainframe regions to their existing Customer Information Control Systems (CICS) and COBOL applications. Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor 6 for COBOL overcomes this limitation by enabling users to develop rules services that can be compiled to IBM mainframe-standard COBOL, and by enabling these rules services to read and write data in their COBOL copybooks.
The latest Blaze Advisor innovations offer business users increased market agility in an increasingly complex and regulated global economy, while helping the enterprise maintain consistency across all touchpoints. Highlights of the Blaze Advisor 6 for COBOL include:
