(Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA) - Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE: FIC), the leading provider of analytics and decision management technology, announced today that analyst firm IDC has recognized Fair Isaac as the worldwide revenue leader in the Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS) software market for the second consecutive year.
The new IDC report "Worldwide Business Rules Management Systems 2007-2011 Forecast and 2006 Vendor Shares" (IDC #208989, October 2007) ranks Fair Isaac as the worldwide BRMS market leader in 2006 with revenues of $53.5 million, compared with revenues of $45.1 million in 2005. IDC credits Fair Isaac's 18.7 percent growth and 23.6 percent market share to the company's continuing success with its Blaze Advisor™ business rules management system in the North American market. Fair Isaac's revenue in North America was $45.1 million, compared to $24.4 million for the closest competitor.
According to the IDC report, the worldwide BRMS market witnessed double-digit growth in 2006 with revenues of $226.8 million, and is projected to grow to $530.8 million in 2011.1
"Advances elsewhere in the application development and deployment markets are helping set the stage for even higher BRMS growth as the industry retools its approach to application development around deployment, support of standards, ease of construction, maintainability, and extensibility," said Stephen D. Hendrick, group vice president for
IDC's Application Development and Deployment research group. "Business rules engines are expected to become key development elements of the application infrastructure stack."
IDC defines business rules management systems as tools that centralize the definition, discovery, storage, and submission of the vast quantity of rules used in business operations to provide organizations with greater automation, more responsiveness to change, and less expensive distribution and maintenance of their business activities.2
"The continued success of Blaze Advisor is really a testament to our customers worldwide who use it every day to manage their critical business rules and support smart decisions," said William Waid, vice president, Enterprise Decision Management Technologies, at Fair Isaac. "Being named the clear market leader by IDC for the second straight year also demonstrates our continued investment in and commitment to Blaze Advisor as a cornerstone of our Enterprise Decision Management suite of software and services."
Fair Isaac's industry-leading Blaze Advisor business rules management system allows non-programmers to design, deploy, execute and maintain business rules and policies as part of an automated business application. The software incorporates the advanced Rete III inference engine that helps organizations manage large amounts of data and execute rules faster with complex enterprise-class deployments and more efficiently than other rules management systems. It is the first rules engine to support Java, .NET and COBOL deployment of the same rules. The multi-platform solution supports Web Services and SOA, Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platforms, Microsoft .NET and COBOL for z/OS mainframes.
