Installing or Upgrading on Windows
Tableau Server on Windows now includes Tableau Services Manager (TSM), which replaces the Configuration Utility and the command line tool.
Download and copy the appropriate bundle to the target machine. If you currently use version 2018.1 or older then FICO recommends you back up your Tableau configuration and uninstall your current version before installing 2019.1.
![]() | Note Tableau specifies minimum hardware requirements and recommendations that apply to all computers running Tableau Server version: 2019.1, including physical hardware and virtual machines (VMs). Full details are available on the Tableau website, for more see
Infrastructure Planning.
In addition, Tableau Server should not be installed on a physical computer or on a VM instance that is also running resource-intensive applications such as databases or application servers. If you install Tableau Server on a computer that meets the minimum requirements but does not have at least 8 cores and 16 GB of system memory, the default number of all processes installed is reduced to one of each process by design. For Windows installations, see Tableau Server Windows Minimum Hardware Requirements and Recommendations. |
