Upgrading FICO Xpress Insight on RHEL

The Xpress Insight Execution Worker and the Xpress Insight Server can be installed over the top of an existing installation.

Updating Xpress Insight Execution Worker

You may need to upgrade the installation of FICO® Xpress before upgrading the Xpress Insight Execution Worker.
  1. Stop the Xpress Insight Execution Worker service:
    • service xpress-insight-worker stop
  2. Backup the following configuration files before upgrading Xpress Insight Execution Worker:
    1. <XPRESSDIR>/bin/xpvars.local.sh
    2. <XPRESSDIR>/bin/xprmsrv.cfg
  3. If an upgrade of FICO® Xpress is required, run the FICO® Xpress installer. For more see the following section in the FICO Xpress Installation Manual: Installation on Linux or Unix.
  4. Run the Xpress Insight Execution Worker installer to install the new version of the Xpress Insight Execution Worker and (by default) start the service. For more see Installation of Xpress Insight Execution Worker.

Upgrading Xpress Insight Server

The Xpress Insight Server can be installed over the top of an existing installation. The installation script will detect and offer to back up an existing database to speed up the installation process, you can opt out of this if you have backed up the database before starting the installation.
  1. Optionally, make a database backup before the installation process. For more see the following section in the Xpress Insight Administrator Guide: Creating a Database Backup. Alternatively you can start the installation and allow the installation script to generate a database backup. This could add a significant amount of time for the installation process to run.
  2. Stop the Xpress Insight Server service:
    • service xpress-insight-server stop
  3. Backup the following files before upgrading Xpress Insight Server:
    • <XPRESSDIR>/insight/server/.xpress-insight-key
    • <XPRESSDIR>/insight/server/wildfly-x.y.z.Final/standalone/configuration/standalone.xml
    • <XPRESSDIR>/insight/server/wildfly-x.y.z.Final/standalone/log/*
where x, y, and z represent the version, subversion, and patch numbers.
  4. Run the Xpress Insight Server installer. For more, see the following section in the FICO Xpress Installation Manual: Installation of Xpress Insight Server.
  5. If you have made any changes to the standalone.xml configuration file then you will need to reapply these changes to the newly installed file at <XPRESSDIR>/insight/server/wildfly-x.y.z.Final/standalone/configuration/standalone.xml (where x, y, and z represent the version, subversion, and patch numbers) and restart the Xpress Insight Server service.
  6. Any changes you have made to /etc/sysconfig/xpress-insight-server will be moved to /etc/sysconfig/xpress-insight-server.bak, therefore you will need to copy the changes to the new /etc/sysconfig/xpress-insight-server file.
