System Architecture

The figure below depicts the key administrator-level elements of the Xpress Insight architecture.

Xpress Insight architecture

It is possible for all components of an Xpress Insight installation to run on the same machine. However, the figure depicts a more likely production configuration where the Insight server, Tableau server, and one or more execution workers are deployed on separate machines.

Note that:
  • The Insight server, the repository, and the mirror database always run on the same machine.
  • Tableau can be hosted on a separate machine.
  • Each execution worker can run on a separate machine, and you can configure as many as are required subject to licensing arrangements.
  • See Key Concepts and Components for descriptions of the individual components.

A Community license enables a single local Execution Worker, Tableau and LDAP integration are disabled.
