Further information
1. This routine selects the function to call based on the provided arguments without performing any conversion (for instance using an integer where a real is expected will not work). The execution will terminate on a runtime error if no compatible function can be found.
2. The result of the function call is returned via the parameter retval that must be a union compatible with the type of the function. The execution will terminate on a runtime error if the result of the call cannot be saved in the provided entity.
