Importing and Exporting

You can export the following objects from the system as .insight files:
  • A scenario
  • A folder and its scenario and subfolders
  • An app and its scenario and subfolders
The same types of objects can also be imported into the system. Insight supports two methods of importing a file:
  • Upload via Browser. This method uses the browser file selector to choose a file from the user's local laptop/desktop and uploads via the browser. This method is not recommended for large (>50 MB) files.
  • Upload from Server. This method uses an import dialog to choose a file from those residing in a designated shared network location. The user copies their file into this location and then the Insight server can read the file directory directly.
The steps to perform these operations and the authorities required by the user are described in the next sections.

  • Tasks Dialog
    Importing or exporting an app, folder, or scenario is a background task. The tasks dialog shows the list of in-progress and completed background tasks that you initiated.
  • Exporting Scenarios and Folders
    You can export any scenario or folder of scenarios that have read access to. No other authority is s required.
  • Importing Folders and Scenarios
    You can import a file containing a scenario or folder of scenarios if you have the SCENARIO_NEW or FOLDER_NEW authority respectively. You will need write access to the folder location you choose to import into.
  • Exporting Apps
    You can export an app you are a member of if you have the APP_EXPORT authority.
