Migration from Tableau OEM Version to Tableau Standard

FICO currently has an "OEM agreement" with Tableau, where customers deploy a custom build called "Tableau for FICO". Tableau has decided to move away from this OEM version, and so we will be migrating to the standard version of Tableau available from Tableau's web site.

On-premises customers will need to migrate to the standard Tableau version by April 19, 2024. For any upcoming upgrades of FICO Xpress Insight or FICO Decision Optimizer ahead of this date, we recommend moving to the standard Tableau version at that time.

There is no functional difference between the current OEM version and the standard version of Tableau. Essentially, the OEM version is a FICO branded version of the standard version which requires special OEM licenses. The benefit when moving to the standard version resides in security updates by Tableau being available directly from their public download pages.

Several of our customers have already used the standard version from Tableau for years, or they have a license agreement directly with Tableau. Hence, any supported version of Xpress Insight and Decision Optimizer can be used with the standard version of Tableau.

FICO is planning to deliver a Tableau-free Decision Optimizer (DO 9 on Xpress Insight 5) in February 2024, which will no longer require any third party 'reporting' software. Once committed and released, customers can migrate to this Tableau-free version at their convenience.

In case you set up a new machine with the new Tableau installation, then you simply follow the installation and administration guides. In case you migrate on the same machine from the Tableau OEM version to the Tableau standard version, then use the migration guidance in this section. This is similar to uninstallation instructions in the past.
