New Functionality and Changes Introduced with Decision Optimizer 8.0
The version 8 series of releases builds on the strong Xpress Technology foundation established with the v7 releases, to drive the next evolution of FICO Decision Optimization that will increase focus on Ease of Use, Automation, and Innovation.
The focus for the v8.0 release has been improving usability and providing new capabilities, as detailed below:
Added in Decision Optimizer 8.0
New Decision Impact Model Graph and Component
To improve the user experience in configuring and managing the Decision Impact Model (DIM), we've introduced a new graph-based user interface. Users can now design, configure, and edit all DIM components in the one user interface. Previously this required moving between three separate views, so represents a significant enhancement in usability.
This new interface brings many efficiencies, but also new capabilities including component tracing, that allow users to select records, run these through the DIM, and for each component review the inputs and resulting outputs. With this, the user can both run unit tests and trace individual records through the whole DIM execution.
Reports Configuration Library
Users can now create a library of report filter configurations. From any Tableau based report, they can set one or more of the filters that control the displayed segments and metrics, then save this configuration to the library. Users can select any saved configuration for use across different reports, eliminating the need to recreate filter configurations over and over.
Reports Enhancements
- Two New Reports have been added that summarize the Action Mix and Treatment Mix reports.
- The reports have been split into two sections: Core Reports and Validation Reports
Tree Aware Optimization (TAO) Enhancements
In Decision Optimizer 8.0 we have further enhanced the TAO functionality to support the use of Treatment Constraints on existing Decision Trees, where the user wants to keep the same base tree structure. Users can also control whether each Treatment Constraint should be considered hard or soft.
Performance Enhancements
Adoption of Xpress Mosel 5
Decision Optimizer 8.0 adopts the latest version of Xpress Mosel, the market-leading analytic orchestration, optimization modeling, and programming language. This provides performance improvements to Decision Optimizer 8.0, particularly on data intensive scenario runs. For more on Mosel 5, follow this link.
Decision Impact Model Execution
Processing enhancements have been made to reduce DIM execution times and make the processes more memory efficient.
DO6 Project Import
Decision Optimizer 8.0 supports the import of Segmentations and Nested Segmentations.
Project Limits
- Project Attachments size limit has increased from 150MB to 300MB
- Component Calculation Limit increased from 250 to 350
- Limit on the number of Records, Accounts, or Customers increased from 1M to 2M
- Assumptions Limit increased from 50 to 100
User Interface Enhancements
- More detailed guidance on the different Segmentation options has been added.
- Enhanced user control over the focus of the Optimization Scenario run with the ability to select whether it should focus on finding fast solutions or the most accurate.

Note: Oracle Java 11 was released under the new Oracle Technology Network (OTN) license. While users should always contact their legal representative and Oracle for all terms and conditions, FICO's understanding is that the OTN makes Oracle Java free to use in development, testing, proof of concepts, and other non-production environments. However, those who wish to run Oracle Java 11 in a production environment will require a contract with Oracle.

Documentation
Improvements have been made in sections of the Analyst User Guide, including a more detailed Chapter 9 Reports section.
More detailed information on minimum system requirements and installation processes/options have been added to the Installation Guide.
R Script DIM Component (Beta)
As part of Decision Optimizer 8.0 innovation focus, we've introduced a new DIM Component type that supports the execution of R Scripts, to support wider range of data manipulation and predictive model types. This initial release is considered Beta functionality to allow wider testing before full release.
