New Functionality and Changes Introduced since Decision Optimizer 7.6
Added in Decision Optimizer 7.6.5
Tree Aware Optimization (TAO)
- Support for optimizing a base tree (where the tree structure is pre-defined and will remain unchanged) using tree aware optimization. The TAO scenario will add the optimized treatment to the end nodes of the base tree.
- Added support for using FJDT format trees to create TAO tree templates.
- Improved execution performance on Tree Aware Optimization scenario runs using large tree templates (where >1000 leaf nodes are defined).
Tree Editor
- The Tree editor will now show sample weighted count information by default when a sample weight is set in the Decision Optimizer Project.
- The Tree editor view configuration now persists when changing editor views, thus retaining any view customizations.
Standard Reports
- On Tableau based standard reports, the report filter selections now persist across reports.
- In the Efficient Frontier report:
- The appearance of data in the Detailed Analysis section is now driven by users selecting scenarios / sub scenarios on the Efficient Frontier graph.
- Added support for selecting multiple segments—graphs for each segment now appear side by side, with Detail Analysis section including information on relevant segment.
Defects
- that caused various styling and filter inconsistencies in Tableau reports (labels, scroll bar, dropdown content).
- impacting the availability of segmentations in reports and potentially impacting scenario execution.
- that could lead to incorrect error messages.

Usability Improvements
This includes:
Binning
Binning allows you to sort data into subgroups called bins, so you can analyze the behavior and predictive power of individual bins. You can now:
- Copy / Clone bins.
- Modify an existing binning.
- Change the label applied to the first bin.
- Rename binning categories and update any associated tree templates
Segmenting your data allows you to group accounts for calculations, optimization runs, and reports. Simple Segmentation Schemes use data bins applied to individual data variables. This identifies a range of sub-populations that can be used in reporting, where aggregate reports can report against specified segments or a range of segments focused on a single data variable
- Nested segmentation support added- this supports ability to create combinations of two or more Simple Segmentation Schemes. The resulting segments are formed from the product of the Simple Segmentation Schemes
Note: Nested segmentation schemes are not available for use on Penetration Reports.
Reports
- Users can now compare Segments from the same Scenario side by side on the Action Mix, Treatment Mix, and Outcome standard reports.
The user selects one or more Segments they want to compare through the Population filter on the report. These will then show in the report for each chosen Scenario allowing easier side-by-side comparison of different segments.
- Users can now select in the Data Roles view to use Median metrics in reports, as well as Sum & Average.
-
Users can now easily add notes and comments in a new feature, the Project Log, which is accessed from the Project Status bar at the bottom of the screen.
Each log entry is added using free form text and then is user, date and time stamped and maintained with the project
- Ability to set the Simulation Scenario so that it maps to either the project Action Value, Treatment Id or Treatment Name. For Decision Trees this will then map the chosen Action/Treatment to the ID assigned to each tree end node, and for Tagged Treatment to the attribute on the Input Data File.
- Enhanced support for Missing Values in DIM Equation Components.
Miscellaneous Enhancements
Tableau 2018.2 support
- Tableau 2018.2 is supported—The FICO installer provides the Tableau 2018.1 installer because that is our recommended version.
