Cloning Scenarios

Versions of Xpress Insight prior to 4.54 allowed users to create a new scenario based on an existing scenario by using the clone feature. The Scenario Manager achieves the same result by using this copy–and–paste method.

Any scenario in the Scenario Manager can be duplicated using this copy and paste method.
Note: Scenarios loaded on the shelf can be cloned by selecting the Clone command in the pill drop down menu. If a scenario is executing, cloning a scenario will copy the scenario data and attachments that were present then the scenario was reserved for execution.

This procedure uses the term duplicate to describe the copy and paste operation, which copies the scenario data as well as the structure.

  1. From the HOME page, select the app that contains the scenario you wish to duplicate. The APP page is displayed.
  2. Click the shelf to open the Scenario Manager.
  3. In the folder list (displayed in the left pane), select the folder containing the scenarios you wish to use.
  4. In the scenario list, select the scenario(s) you want to duplicate.
    1. To select multiple sequential adjacent files, select the first file then hold the Shift key and click the final file.
    2. To select multiple non-sequential files, select the first file then hold the Ctrl key while clicking the other files. You can de-select a file by clicking it again.
  5. When you have completed your selection, click Copy.
The PASTE field updates to show the number of files in memory.
  6. Navigate to your destination folder and click Paste. A dialog displays how many files will be pasted. Click PROCEED.
The scenarios are added to the selected folder. If applicable, a progress dialog will display.
Note: Insight does not allow two scenarios to have the same name. If the paste operation would create an identically named scenario, the newest scenario name has a suffix number in brackets applied. Subsequent paste operations using the same scenario increase the suffixed value.
  7. A status window shows how many items were successfully processed, and shows if any errors were encountered. Click CLOSE.
Note: You can cancel the copy operation at any time in one of two ways:
  • Closing the Scenario Manager
  • Making a new selection and copying the file
Unpasted items are removed from the paste board.
