From the Home page, you can import a file containing an exported app. You can import a file from your local system or from the configured server location.
To import an app, you must have the APP_NEW authority.
|
Note: By default, the total size of all attachments for any single app or scenario in the import file cannot exceed 1 GB. You can change this limit by editing the following line in the server
application.properties file:
insight.server.client.attachments.max-total-size=1024MB
The maximum valid limit is 5 GB.
For more information about application.properties, see Editing the application.properties Files.

Importing an App from a Local File
You can import an app by uploading a file from your local file system.
When importing an app via browser upload, you become the owner of all folders and scenarios in the import file.
|
Note: For files larger than 50 MB, import from the server network location instead.
|
- Navigate to the Home page.
- Click Upload App.
Your browser's file selector opens.
- Choose the
.insight
file you want to import.
The
Tasks dialog opens to show progress of the import.
When the import completes, the imported app appears as a new tile on the Home page.
Importing Apps from the Server Network Location
You can import an app by selecting a file from the configured server location.
- Navigate to the Home page.
- Click Advanced.
- From the drop-down menu, select Import App.
The
Import App dialog opens.
- Choose an
.insight
file from the drop-down list.
- Specify how you want to handle ownership of imported objects.
You can choose to take ownership of all folders and scenarios in the app, or respect the ownership of the folders and scenarios as recorded in the export file.
If you select
Respect original ownership, the system attempts to match the owners in the export file to current users using these rules:
- The system tries to match on an internal identifier. This is possible only if the file was exported from the same system where you are importing.
- If the internal identifier is not matched, the system tries to match the user name.
- If the user name is not matched, the original ownership cannot be preserved. The importing user becomes the assigned owner.
- Click Import.
The
Tasks dialog opens to show progress of the import.
When the import completes, the imported app appears as a new tile on the Home page.
