Uploading an App from a Local File

You can upload an app from a local file in either of two formats: .zip or .insight.

A .zip file contains all of the necessary elements to create a new app in Xpress Insight: configuration files, the compiled model, embedded data files, and HTML and JavaScript UI files. An .insight file is a binary file containing a live app exported from a running system, potentially with existing scenarios in various states.

Note: Files of some potentially insecure types cannot be used as app or scenario attachments. If you have the Xpress Insight server hosted on-premises, you can configure which file types are allowed. However, the FICO® Platform version of the Xpress Insight server does not allow attachments with the following extensions: apk, asp, aspx, bat, bin, c, cc, class, conf, cpp, css, dll, exe, gif, iso, java, js, jse, jsp, lib, php, phps, phtml, properties, ps1, rar, rpm, sh, swf, tar, tga, tiff, vb, vbe, vbs, vbscript, war, xlm, xlsm, xltm, xsdt. The server blocks any import or upload of a repository, app, folder, or scenario that contains any attachments with these extensions. For more on configuring the extension blocklist for an on-premises installation, see Securing Xpress Insight.

To upload an app from a local file, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home page, click Upload App.
  2. Select the .zip or .insight file containing the app that you want to upload and then click Open.
  3. Select the file and click OPEN.
The app is imported, and an icon for the app appears on the Home page.
