Connecting Xpress Workbench to Xpress Insight

Before you can publish a project from Xpress Workbench to Xpress Insight, you must first configure the credentials for accessing the Insight server.
When deployed in a Docker container, Xpress Workbench stores Insight credentials in a Docker volume. (This is different from the standard on-premises version of Workbench, which stores credentials in the operating system credential store, such as the Windows Credential Manager or the macOS keychain.)

To connect Xpress to the Insight server, follow these steps:

  1. In the Insight user interface, generate REST API credentials.
(For more information, see Generating REST API Credentials.)
  2. In Xpress Workbench, click the Publish icon to publish a project to Insight.
(For more information, see Publishing to Xpress Insight.)
  3. Select the URL of the server you want to configure.
(Click Add to add a new server to the list.)
  4. Click Setup and then specify the Insight credentials in the Client Id and Client Secret field.
    Click Save.
You can now select the configured Insight server for publishing from Workbench. The configured credentials are preserved when the container stops and restarts. You should need to complete this configuration only once, unless your Insight configuration changes or the credentials become invalid.
