Synchronizing Environments Between Workbench and Insight

Xpress Workbench and Xpress Insight maintain separate Conda environments, which need to be kept in sync.
Workbench maintains a separate Conda environment for each application. This is different from Insight, which associates each Conda environment with an Insight execution environment (which might in turn be used for multiple different apps). When you initiate a full publish from Workbench to Insight, you can select the Insight execution environment you want to use for the app. However, keep in mind that no automatic synchronization happens between the two.
When you start a new project in Workbench, a good starting point is to copy the environment.yml file for the Insight execution environment you plan to use for the app. Keep in mind that it is then your responsibility to keep the Workbench and Insight environments in sync:
  • If the environment you are using changes in the Insight configuration, refresh the copy of environment.yml for the Workbench project.
  • If you make any changes to the Workbench environment during development, update the corresponding Insight environment with these changes and restart the Insight worker container before publishing.
