Initializing help system before first use

Enabling Insight File Logging

You can configure Insight to write log messages to a file.
By default, Insight server and worker log messages are written only to the console, which means that they appear only in the terminal window where docker compose up was executed (or in the Docker Compose user interface). You can change this behavior so that log messages are also written to files.
  1. Navigate to the directory for the configuration you are using (for example, insight-local-filesystem).
  2. Edit the server-config/override.properties file and add the following line:
    insight.server.system.log-appender=CONSOLE,FILE
  3. Edit the worker-config/override.properties file and add the same line.
  4. Edit docker-compose.yaml and delete the # characters to uncomment the following lines:
    - ./logs:/server/logs
    ...
    - ./logs:/worker/logs
  5. Stop and restart the Insight sever and worker containers.
For more information about Insight logging, see the Insight documentation at Administering the Logging Features.
