Initializing help system before first use

Features and Restrictions

The versions of Xpress Workbench that are deployed as Docker images are different from the standard on-premises and FICO Cloud versions.

The differences include:

  • By default, the Workbench container starts with the Xpress Community License. You can also use a custom license or the same one that runs on your host workstation. (See Licensing Xpress for Use in Workbench.)
  • Workbench on Docker stores Insight credentials in a Docker volume. This is different from the on-premises version of Workbench, which uses the operating system credential store. (See Connecting Xpress Workbench to Xpress Insight.)
  • Workbench on Docker is browser-based and does not include the examples that are included with the on-premises version.
  • Unlike some other Docker-based applications, the Xpress Workbench container is only intended to be used locally from a workstation. The Xpress Workbench container not intended to be mounted on a server and accessed by multiple remote users. It is deliberately configured to prevent remote access.
  • Workbench on Docker has a different mechanism for managing project directories, compared to the on-premises version. (For more information, see Configuring the Workbench Data Directory.)

Licensing

The Docker images include FICO® Xpress software, which is subject to the Xpress Shrinkwrap License Agreement. By downloading this image, you agree to the Community License terms of the Xpress Shrinkwrap License Agreement with respect to the included FICO Xpress software. See the licensing options overview for additional details and information about obtaining a paid license.

The images also contain other, separate, distinct software which may be subject to other licenses (such as Bash and other components of the base distribution, along with any direct or indirect dependencies of the primary software being contained). It is the image user's responsibility to ensure that any use of this image complies with the relevant licenses for all software contained within.
