Upgrading Xpress Insight

Xpress Insight can be installed alongside an existing installation of Xpress Insight 4.60. It cannot be installed alongside a version of Xpress Insight Community Edition. You must uninstall the Community Edition before installing the full edition. You cannot install a Community Edition alongside a full version of Xpress Insight.

Note: Before upgrading, check the Xpress Insight Release Notes for any information you might need to consider as part of the upgrade (such as any changes to supported versions of third-party software).

Xpress Insight uses the configured environment variable paths to your installed instance of Xpress 9.7 and your installed instance of Java 17.

Earlier versions of Xpress Insight can be upgraded by running the latest installer.
  • The Windows installer will update your installation and retain your apps and configuration, and then uninstall your previous version. You do not need to uninstall.
  • The RHEL Linux installer supports updating a newer version over an existing installation. Your apps and configuration will be retained and you do not need to uninstall before upgrade. Instead, run the following command:

    rpm --upgrade fico-xpress-insight-server-[version].x86_64.rpm

If you are upgrading from Xpress Insight 4, you will need to migrate your repository, and then update any custom apps. For more, see the Upgrading from Xpress Insight 4 chapter.

Changing license types

If you install Xpress Insight on a system that has had a previous version of Insight installed using a different type of license, you must remove the existing data. This should be done after uninstalling the previous version, but before installing the new version. You can find the data directory by referring to the insight.server.persistence.filesystem.path property in the application.properties file.

If you have app data you want to preserve, export the app before uninstalling the existing version. You can then import the app into Insight 5 after the upgrade.
