Authoring Tableau Workbooks

Tableau Desktop is the recommended software for authoring Tableau workbooks for use with Xpress Insight apps. Tableau Server can also be used but has fewer authoring features.
There are several requirements that a workbook must meet to be compatible with Insight. The topic "Tutorial: Building Your First Tableau View" describes how to implement these requirements.
  • The data source of the workbook must limit the scope of data being presented, implementing a join on the insight_selection table.
  • The data source of the workbook must restrict access to the data to authenticated users only by implementing a filter on username.
