Maintaining License Compliance

The Xpress Insight Docker images are deployed with the Community License, which is suitable for evaluation. You can upgrade to a full license by installing a license key.

For more information about the limitations of the Community License, see the Xpress Insight Installation Guide.

Installing a License

You must have a paid license key and your OAuth credentials. You can copy these values from the FICO Licensing User Portal. Information about how to access the portal is provided after you purchase your license.
To install a license key:
  1. In your browser, navigate to http://localhost:8080 and log in as an administrator.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Licenses.
The Licenses page shows all of the currently installed license keys, along with details about what each license covers. By default, only the Community License is shown.
  3. Click New License.
  4. On the New License page, paste your license key, client ID, and client secret into the appropriate fields.
  5. If you are installing the license on a system that is connected to the Internet, click Activate Online.
If the system is not connected to the Internet, see Activating a License Offline.
After activation is complete, the new license is added to the Licenses page. You can click on the license key to open the Edit License page, which shows complete details for the license.

If any details of a license change, click the license key and then click Refresh License Online to update the page with the latest information.

If you have multiple licenses installed, you can specify which license you are currently using by selecting In Use. Note that if the license that is in use does not support your current Xpress Insight configuration, you will not be able to use Insight until you correct the problem. For more information, see Maintaining License Compliance.

Activating a License Offline

If you need to activate a license on a system that is not connected to the Internet, you can use offline activation.
To activate a license offline:
  1. After you enter the license key on the New License page, click Offline activation.
  2. Click Download Activation File.
  3. On a computer with Internet access, upload the activation file to the FICO Offline Licensing Portal at https://licensing-offline.fico.com/.
A licensing file is automatically downloaded.
  4. Transfer the licensing file back to the computer where you are installing the license.
  5. On the New License page, click Upload File to Activate and upload the license file you downloaded from the portal.

Deactivating and Deleting a License

To deactivate and delete a previously installed license, follow these steps.
  1. On the Licenses page, click the license key of the license you want to deactivate.
    The Edit License page opens.
  2. If the license is currently in use, deselect In Use and then click Save.
The Community License becomes the license in use.
Note: If your Insight configuration does not comply with the terms of the Community License, you must correct the problem by modifying your configuration or switching to a different license. For more information, see Maintaining License Compliance.

Reopen the Edit License window by clicking the license key again.

  3. Deactivate the license:
    • On a system that is connected to the Internet, click Deactivate License Online.
    • To deactivate a license offline, click Offline actions and then click Deactivate License Offline. Transfer the downloaded file to a system that is connected the Internet and then upload it to the FICO Offline Licensing Portal at https://licensing-offline.fico.com/.
  4. To delete a deactivated license from the system, click Delete.

Maintaining License Compliance

In order to use Xpress Insight, you must make sure that your current configuration is in compliance with the license that is in use.
A license authorizes a certain numbers of users and execution workers. If you switch to a new license with lower limits, the result might be that your Insight configuration is no longer authorized. If this happens, an error message appears, and all Insight pages become unavailable except for the Users, Execution Services, and Licenses page. The REST API also becomes unavailable.
To correct the problem, do one of the following:
  • Bring your Insight configuration into compliance with the current license by disabling users or workers. For details about how to manage users and workers, see the Xpress Insight Administrator Guide.
  • Switch to a license that supports the number of users and workers that are currently active.
After you have corrected the problem, reload the page to clear the error message and restore access to all features.
