Sweden's CNP Fraud Surge Continues, Now Outpacing Nordic Peers

Following last year's renewed rise in Card-not-Present (CNP) fraud, Sweden's losses climbed further in 2025 to 331.3M SEK, second only to Norway among the Nordic markets. This continues the trajectory flagged last year, when Sweden's resurgence in CNP fraud was noted alongside similar patterns in other markets. Sweden’s basis points have increased, from 1.77 to 2.06.

As before, this movement is driven almost entirely by CNP fraud, which tracks the overall trend closely throughout, while other card fraud types remain comparatively low and stable.

This sustained CNP growth reinforces last year's read on evolving attack methods and the growing sophistication of fraud networks targeting e-commerce. With Sweden's rise now outpacing Denmark's plateau and trailing only Norway among Nordic markets, the case for continued investment in adaptive, scam-specific fraud detection remains as pressing as ever, particularly given the dual challenge Swedish banks face in protecting customers without adding friction to digital experiences.
