European Fraud Map

While some countries have seen steady loss figures between 2024 and 2025, there are some alarming increases across several European countries such as Norway, Sweden, Poland, Hungary and Greece. These countries have all seen fraud losses jump by 15% or more over the last year. Both Hungary and Poland are reporting their highest losses on record, both trajectories headed towards future increases. Greece and Sweden have not yet reached their all-time high fraud loss value, but they are both headed swiftly in that direction. Norway’s losses are still significantly under their all-time high of 215NOK in 2015, sitting at 138NOK. Losses are trending upwards, however, which will be drawing Norway’s concern. 

Notably, Sweden had a large dip in fraud losses around 2021 which has crept back up year after year. Their losses now threaten their highest peak of 2015-2018. Hungary has also been on the increase in recent years, their fraud losses growing at an average rate of 39% per year (over the last 10 years).

On the other side, Denmark and Spain have managed to keep their fraud losses steady. It’s expected that fraud losses will rise globally every year as payments increase, so both countries’ 0% change bucks this trend and indicates that they have a good level of control over card threats.
